The heart of Angel Food
Kia ora, I’m Alice.
I founded Angel Food in 2006, two years into my vegan journey - a lifestyle I’d completely fallen in love with. My goal was to make it easier for more people to embrace vegan living, and I knew that good vegan cheese was a big part of that - because what’s life without cheese, right?
The thing is, aside from being truly delicious, cheese has a high environmental impact. Its production requires vast amounts of land and water, and creates huge amounts of pollution to both, plus massive greenhouse gas emissions. Sadly, it also involves inhumane treatment of cows and their calves.
By making great plant-based cheeses available in Aotearoa New Zealand, I knew I could help make a difference.
Food isn’t just fuel. It’s joy, culture, collaboration, and community. And it can evolve without losing any of those wonderful things. It’s why we’re here, and why we can’t wait to share what we do with you.
